Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. We do this because we believe that every child deserves a safe place to spend their out of school time, regardless of their circumstances.
While serving youth between the ages of 6 and 18, we focus on programming to foster academic success, develop character & leadership as well as promoting a healthy body, mind, and soul. Without the programming at the Boys & Girls Club of Marion, many of our youth would not have a safe, enriching environment to spend time, when not in school.
We offer Afterschool and Summer programming at three Marion County locations. Of our 800 Active members, about 90% of them live in a low to moderate income household.
20% of our nation’s young people are considered obese, and 75% of them are from low income households. Nationally one in four High School freshman will not graduate with their peers, and 78% of those kids are from low income households. 50% of adults from a low-income family cannot read a book written at an eighth-grade level These are the families and the kids we serve every day. We ask for your financial support to continue to serve our community. The kids are counting on us to be there!
